ATTRACTIVE AND CONTEMPORARY BED AND BREAKFAST ACCOMMODATION NEAR INVERARAY.

WELCOME TO OUR LUXURY BED AND BREAKFAST NEAR INVERARAY IN ARGYLL

If you are looking for somewhere special to rest and unwind following a day out exploring the seascapes and landscapes of Inveraray and Argyll, we are the Bed and Breakfast for you.

Sue and Johnny Campbell have been operating Powdermills as a Bed and Breakfast since 2018.  It was meant to be semi retirement for them both, but as Sue says ‘it has been the hardest work of our lives, but rewarding’.  Sue had worked in the University sector in communications for many years, and Johnny for thirty years in business latterly working in Slovakia, the Czech Republic and Hungary.  They both wanted to slow down and decided to leave Edinburgh and searched the West of Scotland for a location to start their small business.  They found Powdermills, Furnace, near Argyll, which was perfect.  They have built a Bed and Breakfast which consistently scores outstanding on Booking.com and TripAdvisor.  Powdermills Bed and Breakfast is open from February to October each year.  As Sue adds, ‘we need a well earned rest for three months!’ Johnny though, hasn’t slowed down, as he has embarked on a university course in creative writing and now writes poems, short stories and novels in his spare time!

Situated in an area of great natural scenic beauty on the fringes of open countryside and near the coastal village of Furnace, near Inveraray in Argyll, Powdermills Bed and Breakfast is set in a sheltered position amid 10 acres of attractive gardens and woodland. The ruins of 19th century gun powder mills also lie within the grounds and are recognised by Historic Environment Scotland as a site of industrial importance.  Powdermills is open all year round and we offer large discounts on all rooms during the winter months.

The house is stylishly open plan providing comfortable Bed and Breakfast accommodation with an emphasis on space and natural light. The sitting and dining areas offer wonderful vistas of the surrounding land and loch.

The bedrooms are all on the ground floor and are large and accessible, with ensuite and with patio doors to the gardens.  The bedrooms are styled using antique furnishings in contemporary settings and combined with modern conveniences offer the comforts of a boutique hotel experience.

The Campbell room has a King size bed with ensuite bath and shower.  The MacLaren room has a King size bed with ensuite shower. Both rooms have beautiful views of Loch Fyne.  The Ross room has a super King sized bed with ensuite shower and views to Ben Leacainn.  Each room has a large screen TV with satellite channels and free Wifi.

When you arrive we welcome you to relax in the Garden Room or outside on the decking in fine weather, where you can enjoy homemade scones and cake with tea or freshly roasted coffee.

We welcome well-trained dogs in our rooms. We have two boxers, Mabel and Boo.  Please look at our DOG FRIENDLY page for more information.

Also, take a look at Mabel’s blog which is updated regularly.  Here we hope that you will find our blogs interesting about visiting and holidaying at Powdermills Bed and Breakfast, Inveraray and Argyll.

We look forward to welcoming you to our beautiful Bed and Breakfast.
